أعلن الفاتيكان العام الماضي أن البابا فرنسيس أوصى عقب تدهور صحته ومواجهته مشكلات في الرئة أن يدفن في الارض من دون تزيين القبر وبلا مظاهر بذخ.
وجاء في الوصية أن يتم نقله في نعش خشبي بسيط ويدفن في 3 توابيت متشابكة مصنوعة من خشب السرو والرصاص والبلوط.
وأوصى أن يدفن في كنيسة القديسة مريم الكبرى في روما ليكون أول بابا يدفن خارج الفاتيكان منذ أكثر من قرن.
